The Maker Porch Marketplace Returns & Refunds Policy

At The Maker Porch Marketplace, we want buyers to shop with confidence while supporting independent makers, artists, and small businesses. Because many products sold through our marketplace are handmade, personalized, or unique, return eligibility may vary by product type.
1. Return Eligibility
Buyers may request a return within 14 days of delivery if:
- The item arrives damaged.
- The item is defective.
- The wrong item was received.
- The item differs substantially from the product description or photos.
All return requests must be submitted through the marketplace before the return period expires.
2. Non-Returnable Items
Unless otherwise required by law, the following items are generally not eligible for return:
- Custom or personalized products
- Made-to-order items
- Digital downloads
- Gift cards
- Perishable goods
- Personal care products that have been opened or used
- Products marked as "Final Sale"
Custom items that arrive damaged, defective, or incorrect remain eligible for replacement or refund.
3. Condition of Returned Items
Returned items must:
- Be in their original condition
- Include original packaging when possible
- Not show signs of misuse, alteration, or excessive wear
Sellers may deny returns that do not meet these requirements.
4. Damaged or Defective Items
If an item arrives damaged or defective:
- Buyers should contact the seller within 7 days of delivery.
- Photos of the item and packaging may be required.
- Sellers may offer a replacement, repair, store credit, or refund depending on the situation.
5. Order Cancellations
Orders may be canceled before shipment.
Once an item has shipped, the order becomes subject to this Returns & Refunds Policy.
Custom or personalized orders may not be canceled once production has begun.
6. Return Shipping
Unless the return is due to seller error, damage, defect, or an incorrect item, buyers are responsible for return shipping costs.
Sellers may choose to provide prepaid return labels at their discretion.
7. Refund Processing
Once a return is approved and received:
- Refunds will be issued to the original payment method.
- Processing times may vary depending on the payment provider.
- Original shipping charges may not be refundable unless the return is due to seller error.
8. Seller Responsibilities
Sellers are expected to:
- Respond to return requests within 3 business days.
- Provide accurate product descriptions.
- Ship products within the stated processing time.
- Cooperate in resolving buyer concerns professionally.
Repeated failure to meet these standards may result in listing removal, account suspension, or other marketplace actions.
9. Marketplace Protection
The Maker Porch Marketplace reserves the right to review disputes between buyers and sellers.
When necessary, we may:
- Request additional information from either party.
- Facilitate communication between buyer and seller.
- Issue refunds when warranted.
- Remove listings or restrict seller accounts for policy violations.
10. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
Buyers are encouraged to contact the seller and The Maker Porch Marketplace before filing a chargeback with their financial institution.
Abuse of chargeback processes may result in account restrictions.
11. Exceptions
Certain products, promotions, or seller-specific policies may provide additional return rights. Any such policies must comply with marketplace standards and applicable laws.
